About Me

Hi, my name is Bill Relyea,  I am the owner, lead speaker, consultant, and "Head-Coach" of The 415 Group.  I have been involved with athletics all of my life.  I have competed internationally and coached teams to championships at every level.  And, I did it by building trust, creating a positive environment, and helping players discover their greatest talents and strengths.

It wasn't lost on me that there was a great contrast with most of the teams and organizations I had been a part of in the workplace and the teams I was a part of in the athletic world.  I noticed how great coaches have the ability to identify, cultivate, and celebrate the unique abilities of their players, then to design a game plan that allows players to do what s/he does best to contribute to the team's over-all mission: to achieving continuous success (i.e. win)!!  And, I wondered why that was not the case where I worked?

After 25 years in the healthcare profession and five more spent in the legal profession, project management, and various sales experiences along the way, I decided that I wanted to share those experiences learned from athletics to make a profound difference in business organizations.  I found that I have an uncommon ability to connect with others, to see the big-picture, and to inspire others.  (And, I really love helping others achieve great things!)  So, I made the decision to learn more about providing this type of service to the business community.  I found my purpose and discovered my own calling as a maximizer of others.

I completed my graduate degree in Industrial/Organizational psychology while simultaneously completing certification coursework as a Christian Executive/Life Coach, then moved on to doctoral coursework with a concentration in Leadership Development and Executive Coaching.  I started teaching organizational development and leadership, and I launched my practice.  I set out to make a difference in the workplaces and lives of individuals by sharing the processes, strategies, and secrets to greater efficiency, productivity, and satisfaction in being apart of a high-performing team and doing what they do for a living.

As the "Head-Coach" at the 415 Group, I work with leaders and teams of small to moderately-sized, sports-minded organizations - anyone who encounters competition in the marketplace or engenders it in their workplace - who are struggling with a disengaged or caustic culture, afflicted with poor team performance, communication, or cohesion, and suffering ineptitude or disconnect with their leadership/followership dynamics.

I help organizations solve their people-problems through practical, evidence-based strategies and impactful processes, but more than that, I ignite passion in others by helping them to develop greater systemic understanding and self-awareness!  I inspire others to define and achieve their own success by offering insights into human behavior and group dynamics.

Like most leaders, champions are forged, cultivated, and developed.  Some may start off with prodigious talent, but neither talent nor intelligence alone can lead; they can only serve.  So, if you find yourself in the accidental position of leadership ... or maybe you or someone you know is in charge of a dysfunctional team ... I invite you to call The 415 Group!!  We're building Champions.  One leader at a time.

Here are some things clients have said after working with me:

"Bill is a gifted speaker and an intuitive coach who facilitates innovative thought processes with the harmonic balance of real-world applications."

“Bill just has this uncanny ability to read and connect with people!”

He is a bricoleur and modern-day Renaissance man!"

“Great leaders move us.  They ignite our passion and inspire the best in us.  When we try to explain why they are so effective, we speak of strategy, vision, or powerful ideas.  But the reality is much more primal: Great leadership works through the emotions.  Under the guidance of an emotionally intelligent leader, people feel cared for, they share ideas, learn from one another, make collaborative decisions, and get things done!”

Primal Leadership (Harvard Business Review Press, 2013)

Spiritual Gifts

7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift8 Therefore he says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” (Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also The One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)  11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ - 16 from whom the whole bodyjoined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love." (Eph. 4:7-16 NKJV)

*This promise of the giving of talents is also discussed in the parable of the talents
(see Matt. 25:14-30 NKJV).
